Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision
Audiovisual archive and museum in HilversumThe Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision is an archive center and museum located in Hilversum. It collects, preserves, and provides access to most of the Dutch audiovisual collection. In total, the institute has more than 750,000 hours of material dating back to 1898, making it one of the largest audiovisual archives in Europe. It was founded in 1997 as the Netherlands Audiovisual Archive, and adopted its current name in 2002. Its history goes back to 1919, with the foundation of the Nederlandsch Centraal Filmarchief, being one of its precursors.
